Neverwinter Nights 2 ate my computer for lunch. This is not exactly news, but I had no idea just how bad the performance sucked. We're talking 3 frames per second at rest. No other recent game ran this badly on my machine - not Deus Ex 2, not Half-Life 2, not Quake 4, not Stubbs. All of them had better graphics than NWN2, and all of them ran faster at higher settings.
In other news, Sirius radio... how do I put this... It's kind of like mainstream Top40 stations, only without the sense of spontaneity, mischevous fun and adventurous, original programming. Yeah, I know, they have Howard Stern and a whole bunch of other stars, but the music, the music... They have taken the idea of "genre" stations to its depressing, soul-draining extreme, where they only play the glossy, sanitized "hits" of each type of music, hardly ever venturing outside the few "safe" artists and tracks, with the ensuing skull-drilling playlist repetitions. They don't even have the decency to have static and broadcast problems like FM, so you get flawless, 24/7 reception of the same swill that will just keep pouring in until someone turns off the receiver. I work at a place where they use Sirius for background music (incidentally, that's the only use for a Sirius subscription I can conceive of - corporate background filler), and a 10-hour shift with the smooth jazz station crooning mellowly into one's ear is enough to crush a man's spirit. There are only so many times one can hear the same fucking lite jazz hit without wanting to bash someone's face into a bloody, bubbling mess. And they say heavy metal is the Devil's music.Create your own visitor map!
